As we come to an end of our series based on the bestselling book that shares The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success by Deepak Chopra, we learn that the Law of Dharma (law #7) reflects our purpose in life. So many of us spent most of our lives questioning and searching for a sense of meaning, a spiritual connection to something that fulfills us and satisfies our longing to fit into this world.
Through the understanding and acceptance of the law of dharma, we now know that our desire to ‘be all that we can be’ becomes a reality. Chopra makes it clear how we can obtain our purpose in life– in a three step commitment process. The steps are as follows:
1) Seek our higher Self – Through connecting to our spirit and acknowledging that we are spiritual beings with occasional human experiences; we shift our mindset and alter our state of being. Ultimately we become our higher selves.
2) Discover our unique talents – Each of us has been blessed with unique talents and gifts that reflect the essence of who we are. In 1 Corinthians 12:4 we learn that there are different gifts that are shared with us through the Holy Spirit. It’s because of these gifts that we are equipped to follow Chopra’s 3rd commitment of dharma.
3) Serve others – God blessed us with the opportunity to share our gift with others. We will never be fulfilled unless the talents and gifts that we possess are used. When determining our dream job, our frustration exists because we settle for a routine way to pay our bills without tapping into and using the spiritual gifts that we have been blessed with.
You can read more about the importance of living in our purpose in my upcoming book “How to Enter Your Promised Land”. Until then, if you are interested in learning more about this chapter on the spiritual law of dharma, I’ve included chapter 7 in its entirety below.
